DJ Alex Pall and producer, writer and vocalist Andrew Taggart make up The Chainsmokers, one of the hotest EDM pop groups today. With their breakthrough song “#Selfie” in 2014 they burst onto the scene and have been gaining popularity ever since. Their latest accomplishment has been reaching 10 million units with their song “Closer” which was in collaboration with the pop star Halsey.
On September 13th Alex and Andrew appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show where Jimmy surprised them with their Certified Diamond plagues for the hit song “Closer” signifying more than 10 million units sold. In the summer of 2016 the song went up to the top of the Hot 100 and stayed there much longer than anyone imagined. It became one of the fourth longest-running No. 1 hits in U.S. history.
They posted a picture of Jimmy Kimmel with them holding up their Diamond plagues on their Instagram account and wrote, “CLOSER is officially DIAMOND in the U.S. !! We could have never imagined having one of our songs going 10x platinum.”.
“Closer” was done in collaboration with the female pop star Halsey who also received recognition for the Certified Diamond milestone. This has truly been her breakout hit single and she has a lot to thank The Chainsmokers for. She had already had success with numerous hits and a huge fan base before she teamed up with the dance duo herself but this has truly been the icing on the cake when it comes to milestones in her musical career. Halsey has been so busy touring she hasn’t had a chance to see her Certified Diamond plague which is still waiting for her packed away with the rest of her mail at home.
With their hit song “Closer” hitting “Diamond” status many people are wondering how far will this talented team go from here. Nobody knows for sure but more precious Diamonds could be in their future…
The Chainsmokers are the perfect summer act. The music that they create is dancy, catchy and usually upbeat. It’s the kind of music that you want to blast from a car with the roof down on your way to the beach. That’s why this band has picked the perfect time to engage their fans once again. They’ve recently released a teaser to their new song “Somebody.”
The teaser comes in the form of a video clip. It shows Andrew Taggart playing around with all sorts of instruments including the piano, keyboards and synthesizers. The video is about a minute long and gives you a behind the scenes look at just how the sausage is made.
It all starts off on the piano. Drew carefully plays out a high-pitched melody before playing a more complex set of chords. It then moves over to the keyboards where a baseline is laid down and manipulated. The ends of each base section are warped in pitch to give the song a modern feel.
Then it’s on over to the computer where Drew explains that the vocals recorded for “Somebody” were actually meant for a different song. He plays out the original recording which sounds about two steps too low for the catchy new single. You then get to watch him as he modifies the vocals to match the upbeat “Somebody.”
The video clip is rather short but it shows you just how committed the Chainsmokers are to their craft. And it makes you realize just how hard these two have worked to achieve their international success. If you want proof of their commitment to dance music excellence then just take a trip to Vegas where they play to exuberant crowds regularly.
And it’s a great time to catch them as they have just come off a legendary performance at Ultra Miami 2018. Spotify has also notified the electronic music duo that their second hit has been streamed more than 1 billion times. And, to cap it all off, they are the first Dance Artist/DJ to be named to the Billboard New Dance 100 List.
Alex Pall is one of the upcoming DJ who did Djing as a hobby in New York City as he natured his career. He did that with passion one would think it was his full-time job yet it was a side hustle, and he said that being in the city he pursued something that one would think is a job however it was something he did for fun.
Alex’s dedication and committed made him be at an Art Gallery and in the process, he realized that dance music was becoming part of his life and so he wanted to give it to its best. Where Alex Pall made his daily fun dance music, he was also working with a manager who introduced him to Drew, he met him, and Alex realized that they had the same passion and so they started working together hand in hand. Later during his experiences, Alex quit his music career and moved down from Maine.
Alex and Drew worked together, and they all knew what that driven and motivated their ambitions. They observed what was going around them, what pulled them down, what worked and what never worked for them. Drew was a well-trained talented producer while Alex Pall was majorly dealing with DJ and this made their market growth.
As for the upcoming artist, they had to start work as early as 9 am to 7 pm to work mainly on music, and this made them not to treat what they did like a job but instead learn a lot from their experiences from the ground. Over the years they have discovered that they have the same core values that have helped them grow and this has pushed them even to work more hard to become the best artists it is the music that pays their bills.
Most people related their music on a deeper level as it is a journey of self-discovery. Alex and Andrew worked with their producers, and they give each other ideas about music, and this has also helped them increase the number of fans and have earned recognition worldwide.
