Dr. Mark Mckenna is what has recently come to be known as a “doctorpreneur”. While medicine was his initial passion, real estate, entrepreneurial business ventures, and altruism are just as if not more prevalent in his life. Featured on CBS in the show “Doctorpreneur”, he is the embodiment of the term with both the motivation and entrepreneurial spirit for success.
Licensed by both Georgia and Florida, Dr. Mark McKenna graduated medical school from Tulane University. While working at his father’s medical practice, McKenna shifted his focus to found McKenna Venture Investments. Other real estate ventures McKenna operated were Universal Mortgage Lending and Uptown Title. When Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans, Dr. Mark McKenna suffered great financial loss. Despite this, he used his resources and talent to aid the community by redeveloping low-moderate income housing in the effected areas.
After the disaster, McKenna decided to move his focus back to medicine. This meant leaving behind a business that made approximately five hundred thousand dollars a year.
Cd. Mark McKenna is currently focusing his energy on his new project, OVME. Pronounced “of me”, OVME is the first of its kind when it comes to medical care. With clinics currently in Atlanta and Nashville, OVME uses technology to bring patients and freelance medical providers together to perform elective procedures at the patient’s convenience; sometimes in the comfort of a patient’s own home. Dr. Mark McKenna was able to raise over four million dollars for his vision through an Atlanta area venture capital investment firm. He and investors predict that OVME will expand to many different markets at a quick pace in the very near future.
Dr. Mark McKenna is also a strong family man and makes time every morning to eat breakfast with his young daughter before his wife wakes up. He proudly posts about his family on his Twitter and other social media.
